Keilly Pulgar, our Super Star from Alonso High School, is a high performer with a success plan. Keilly is shown here with board member Susan Oliver. She graduated 4th in her class of 530 students with a 6.18 GPA. She was a member of the National Honor Society, BETA, and Secretary of the Spanish Honor Society. In addition she was a recipient of the Rising Star award, Take Stock in Children, Leaders for Life, and Knead for Knowledge.
Keilly has been an active participant in Relay for Life since 8th grade and volunteered as an overnight camp counselor for the Faces of Courage weekend camp for kids with cancer. This summer, she will be volunteering overseas in Argentina at a clinic alongside a group of doctors.
She plans on attending the University of Florida in the Fall on the pre-med track and plan to go to medical school in hopes of one day becoming a pediatric oncologist.
But there is more to the story. Keilly is a cancer survivor. She was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in February of 2011 and underwent chemotherapy for 2 ½ years until being declared cancer free in June of 2013. In addition to her Relay For Life commitment She is Senior Class President, Blood Drive Coordinator for H.O.S.A. a national student organization whose two-fold mission is to promote career opportunities in the health care industry and to enhance the delivery of quality health care to all people.
Good luck Keilly! We’re proud to be a part of your journey. The Pulgar family includes (L-R) Victor, Mom Karina and Keilly.
